TRIPCONY PARK

Public BBQ

Tripcony Park sits along Pumicestone Passage, offering one of those quintessentially Australian waterfront experiences that makes you wonder why anyone bothers with indoor dining. This Caloundra spot provides shaded areas with water views that could make even the most restless toddler pause momentarily. The resident coffee van, charmingly dubbed "Tom & Andy's," serves as the park's caffeinated heartbeat, while a thoughtfully placed water fountain ensures hydration between barbecue attempts. The BBQ facilities present something of a culinary puzzle. The gas plates run with the enthusiasm of a sloth on sedatives, fine for robust cuts that don't mind a leisurely cooking experience, but chicken sausages might require the patience of a saint and perhaps a backup plan. The location itself proves slightly more elusive than GPS suggests, turning a promised 450-metre stroll into a 1.7-kilometre constitutional. Still, the waterfront setting and reliable amenities make it a worthy destination for families who appreciate spectacular views with their slightly underdone snags.
